Delhi Assembly Election Dates: Delhi Election Dates Announcement LIVE: Voting for all 70 seats of Delhi will be held in a single phase on February 5. The votes will be counted on February 8, Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar said on Tuesday.

The announcement of poll dates means implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the national capital. The national capital has been in poll mode for some time now with the three major parties — the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress in the fray.

As per the schedule, the notification for Delhi polls will be issued on January 10. The last date for filing nominations is January 17 while the scrutiny of candidates will be done on January 18. The last date of withdrawal of nomination is January 20. Date of polling is February 5 and date of counting in February 8, according to the poll panel.
In his initial remarks, Kumar said that India about to be a nation of one billion voters.

Kumar also responded to concerns over EVM manipulation, slow voter turnout, voter deletion, among other allegations. “There is no question of invalid votes in the EVM. No rigging is possible. EVMs are foolproof devices for counting. Allegations of tempering are baseless. We are speaking now because we don’t speak when elections are on” Kumar said.
Delhi has 1,55,24,858 voters. This includes 83,49,645 men and 71,73,952 women, and 1,261 third-gender voters. There are 24,44,320 senior citizen voters in Delhi, with 2,77221 people above the age of 80.
